If you use the hack to get the RC, you'll need to uninstall that before you can install the RTM version. You also can't install IE8 Beta 1 on the RC.

Just to be clear - what's offered as a RC via Windows Update is actually the RTM build (the build numbers match exactly and there is no timeout/desktop text). I've installed from WU and from a downloaded RTM from MSDN and they match.
