Ah - the common myth that there is a single one stop technical solution to Internet security... There isn't!
I use...
A properly configured (I think) OS. I log on with the least privileges required to get the job done. (and for Windows users, NEVER routinely run windows as an administrator unless doing administrative tasks) I rely on the NAT facility on my router and use the firewall built into my Linux distro. I use F-prot for AV and SSH to authenticate and encrypt my remote logins to the sytem - and the most important, I use a great deal of circumspection when receiving e mails from unknown sources. Encryption of sensitive files.
Basically what is appropriate for my risk assessment to mitigate the risk down to what I consider acceptable.
(I will resist the temptation to say "Not using Windows" because it is a cheap shot - and properly locked down and configured, the basic Windows OS is probably no less secure than any other OS - the problem is that Windows has tended to leave security for the user to configure - which they don't) There is also the question of application security - a poorly written application, running with admin privileges, can undermine the most carefully configured system.)

As with PeterB, I use different apps to meet my needs. My AV of choice is Nod32, but use other AS and anti-rootkit scanners that are more tailored to their tasks.
When using online banking, shopping or other financial/personal information sites, I use a 'live linux cd to cover these task (maybe a bit overkill, but to me it's worth it.)
I run ZoneAlarm but have other programs in the background. There mainly anti virus, anti spyware and haven't had any problems with virus or any of that junk but then again being behind a Router will help with that.
I always lock the door and put condoms on my typing fingers.
The keyboard gets sticky though.
Seriously though - "Internet Security"???
I'd re-phrase your question / poll, so you are asking about Anti-Virus, software firewalls, hardware firewalls, anti-spyware, virus detection, how your routers are set up, how often you do scans..... etc etc etc.
No such thing as an Internet Security program (unless you walk into PC World, i hear they do a great program called Norton that locks down your system so tight that even the user can't use it - smashing).

Yes there is, it's called Norton AV suite. What you do is nip to PCWorld, when they've got the Norton sale on cos you saw it on the telly and get one for £50. Install this. After about a week this software will really annoy you and then drive you insane after you try to uninstall it. Once this happens in 99.9% of cases the user takes a sledgehammer to their PC and voila; no more internet worries.
Your absolutely right but I'm so guilty of doing this.I tend to run as Admin when building a new machine (like now) and then forget to change my logon because I'm the only one who uses the PC. I've never had an issue but there's always the first time. Infact when I get everything as i want it I'm going to do exactly that.
