Vista Service Pack 1 released on to Microsoft Download Centre
Apologies if this has already been said but...
Just noticed the Vista SP1 standalone download released on Microsoft Download Center. :rockon2:
32-bit version - Download details: Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five Language Standalone (KB936330)
64-bit - Download details: Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five Language Standalone for x64-based Systems (KB936330)
Just downloading now, could really do with the improvement to copying speed etc.

Same. Seems fine here
Took aaagggeeesss to install though
Re: Vista Service Pack 1 released on to Microsoft Download Centre
I'm waiting for it to download and install via Windows Update at this time. Its a shame I can't install it from within XP so I could keep playing HL2. Ah well...
Re: Vista Service Pack 1 released on to Microsoft Download Centre
Well I installed last night, took ages, maybe 45 minutes and a number of reboots, but it got there in the end. So far so good, no driver issues after the upgrade.
Re: Vista Service Pack 1 released on to Microsoft Download Centre
Just downloaded and installed, download time approx 10 minutes, installation time approx 40 minutes.
No problems (so far! :O_o1: )

I got it the other day using the guide that was posted. Took 20-30 mins all in I guess. Not too bad really.
Re: Vista Service Pack 1 released on to Microsoft Download Centre
Well, I tried to install, but everytime I try, it'll say its successful inside of Windows Update and ask for a reboot to finish installation. After 15-20 minutes or so, it says instalation failed, and has to undo all changes. Takes ages. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks for the links. They're pretty big files - will download overnight!

installed fine for me.
seems a lot faster when switching from a game back to the desktop, and then back to the game again.
i thought they would've upped the Vista Base Score thing. pretty much everyone is running a 5+ machine now, mine's a 5.9.. they need to put it up a bit, even though it's useless and none of the games i've seen actually have a base-score rating on them.
Re: Vista Service Pack 1 released on to Microsoft Download Centre
I just tried for the fourth time via Windows Update and it failed...again. lol Maybe I'll just download the whole thing and try to install it seperately....
And yes, they seriously need to up the Index Scores....my dual-core system started off as a 5.5 (or so) and when I overclocked, it jumped to 5.7 (the weakpoint now being still being my CPU; everything else is 5.9, and my rig isn't *that* bleeding edge...lol.)
Re: Vista Service Pack 1 released on to Microsoft Download Centre
My laptop runs fine with Vista and it is only a score of 3.5.
Re: Vista Service Pack 1 released on to Microsoft Download Centre
I downloaded it at work today, like I'd use MY bandwidth.
Installed it on a bog standard machine here, took a while but it's up and running with no apparent ill effects. I may be brave and try my home PC tonight.
Re: Vista Service Pack 1 released on to Microsoft Download Centre
Fourth attempt, this time using the full .exe linked in the first post. No dice. It gets to 100% of Step 3 of 3, then after several minutes says the SP failed to install, and undoes all the changes...
Anyone know whats going on?
Re: Vista Service Pack 1 released on to Microsoft Download Centre
Did you install any of the beta builds? If so you need to uninstall them first.
