    SMP client issues yet AGAIN

Anyone else having issues with the new beta locking up and not calculating?

I left my PC on this weekend just gone and it was on 98% when I left it. I came back to the computer on Monday to see it was still reporting 98% and then to top it all off when I rebooted and restarted the client it told me that it had expired due to the time and I had to start a new work unit ALL over again.

All that folding done for nothing...

Re: SMP client issues yet AGAIN

How new is this new Beta? The one released a few weeks ago, or is there a newer one released recently?

If it's the older one I've had similar problems. I now have to make sure that I turn off the computer after completing each WU or the next one tends to foul up somehow. (I don't time the restart, a few percentage in to the next WU seems fine just so long as I do it before I get too far in.)

Re: SMP client issues yet AGAIN

I've got the latest BETA release.

I think you've just hit the nail on the head there Salazaar.

I hardly ever reboot my system as it's always doing something even when I'm not using it as it's my squeezecentre and audio storage rig. However all the lockups are occuring after I've completed a work unit and start another one.

I'll test this out over the next few days and see if it fixes the issue.

Re: SMP client issues yet AGAIN

I've been running mine from about 8am to 11pm each day (cos I can't sleep well with it on) and I haven't had any of the crashing problems I had with it when it was running 24/7.

You're not alone Lee. I've pretty much given up on it now due to the stupid bugs it has

Re: SMP client issues yet AGAIN

I find this one really pushes the computer to the absolute limits. Temps are way higher and I've found my computer reset itself a few times running this, which it's never ever done before.

Re: SMP client issues yet AGAIN

That's weird Lowe as my systems temps are fine - my fan at the back of the chassis is reporting an air temperature of about 35 degrees and the artic cooler is working it's magic well.

Anyway - I did another unit only to get to 78% and the message appeared about it running out of time yet again.

I think this BETA version is the worst yet out of the SMP clients. I may even have to resort to no running it for a while if it keeps doing all this silly behaviour.

My system temps are hovering around 30-33c, with the chip hitting a whopping 70c on the normal overclock (no extra volts) when Folding. On occasions it's set the alarm off at 75c which is a real worry since I'm pretty sure the uGuru temps are lower than the actual core readings. Folding is the only app I use which pushes it this hard. I'm lucky if I see 60c when gaming.

Re: SMP client issues yet AGAIN

Well yet again the SMP clients strikes!

I'm pretty sure it's watching me as it's fine if I'm sat in front of the PC. However, as soon as I dissapear for a night at a mates and don't crawl in until 8am it's locked up and stook on the same percentage I left it at!

There is no power management kicking in on the PC - everything is set to run 24/7, no screensavers or anything ( I use the standby button a lot... so much in fact it's a funny shade compared to the rest of the display )

Re: SMP client issues yet AGAIN

My SMP clients stop every time the computer looses the network connection - which is fairly often as I've got a netgear router - and my wireless PC downstairs hardly runs at all because the wireless connection is so crap...
