    Winamp alternative?

I've been using Winamp as my player of choice for so many years. But, it's no longer the tiny-resource-consuming programme it used to be.

What are the best music players now?

Seams quite light to me. it's only running in 3.7mb of ram. just go for the winamp classic skin.

    Re: Winamp alternative?

    Foobar tbh.

Looks too basic when you first install, but there's loads of plugins you can add to it to make it a bit more usable .

    Re: Winamp alternative?

    foobar2000 for me aswell.

It might look complicated to begin with, but with the new Default UI it's much easier to get a simple functional layout sorted.
Make sure you get the facets plugin, makes sorting your music easy (iTunes style).

    Re: Winamp alternative?

I use Foobar2000 too; although it doesn't seem to have a random song option (only a predefined 'shuffle') which the playlist can go through, it's a great little program.

    Re: Winamp alternative?

Yeah, for some reason the Foobar site has been playing up today. Other pages don't suffer the same fate (at least they didn't earlier), but here's a direct link to the download page. It's a great player. I'll have to have a play with this revised GUI later.

Yeah they got hacked, iirc correctly it's an annual competition. Didn't let the redirect open though.

Just in case it's something more malicious than a front page hack Download foobar2000 0.9.5.1 - The full version of a very recommendable media player - Softpedia

    Re: Winamp alternative?

foobar is my personal choice as well. pretty sure there isn't anything (stable) to really rival it in terms of how little memory it uses.
