    help installing vista

having trouble installing vista on my shuttle (spec in sig) it seems to get to the last bit and then when restarting and just before windows looks like it's about to enter i get the 'blue screen of death' a reboot takes me to the same place with a different msg stating that i need to start the install again. I have the latest bios and using the standard on board graphics apposed to the 9600. My normal setup consisted of SATA disc and SATA dvd drive, however i found i had to switch to IDE DVD drive for the vista install to take place

Do i need a SATA driver or any preloaded drivers?
    Anyone got any ideas?

    Re: help installing vista

i was clearing up my dads pc last night, and it did the same thing, BSOD for a second then restart. Also, my old XP system did the same thing. Im not sure what this is.. its like a 'bug'? If I find a solution Ill keep you informed.

I managed to get onto desktop (provided an OS has been installed previously) by booting into 'safe mode with command prompt', typing in:

    chkdsk or chkdsk /f

After this task had fully performed, I closed the command prompt, pressed Ctrl Alt & Del, File > New Task: explorer.exe

This gave me windows explorer to use in safe mode, uninstalled things Id just put on, restarted and was ok. Reboot again and back to square one :/
