8800gts and connecting to HDTV problems

Hey guys my new tv came today and i want to connect it to my computer. I have it connected via hdmi-dvi lead. However when i go to settings it will only let me use clone or use a single display.

If i clone it messes the resolutions up as both displays have a different resolution.]

And if i pick a single display then i can only use one which is a pain because it means every time i want to go on the computer i have to switch back and forth. Not only this but when using it as a single display it cuts out the taskbar and top of the screen. ive tried the resizing hdtv desktop programme on nvidia control panel but it doesnt even work. You resize and it looks the same as it did before you resized. Silly thing!

Is there anything i can do or am i just going to have to live with the fact that nvidia makes **** drivers?

Drivers are all up to date.

Err can you select duel view,clones no good as its different res.Try this below.

No there is no dual view option, stupid thing!

This is going to sound crazy, but switch the PC off, the TV on, then the PC on.
This was how we got it to pic up a friends TV.

I think we just used clone for this bit though. I will have a look when I'm there next
