Looking for a key logger

Ok, bit of a strange request, but I've got a bug in a program at work I'm trying to help pin down so it can reported and fixed. Basically there's a key combination I hit every now and again whilst typing a memo on a product that crashes the system. Trouble is, it only seems to happen when I'm typing quite fast, so I can't figure out which key I'm hitting in error.

So I need some form of keylogger program that I can set recording and try and catch the error. I daren't use anything downloaded off a P2P network for fear it transmits information elsewhere (as I'll be entering credit card details at some point).

just google something like keylogger download; you ought to get a few hits... Make sure your antivirus is running though

Well, that's more or less the problem.

I'm surprised there isn't anything worthwhile out there for being able to track down bugs in software.

I don't use C++ but I still use applications written in it.

i hear a rumour that in windows 7, computers will be able to run apps written in both C and VB... at the same time!

i.e. just because a tool is written in python, it doesn't mean you can't use it

Last time I tried to use a python app, it came with a huge list of instructions to download this processor, that compiler and so on. Never did get the damn thing working! I assumed they were all like that (in much the same way Java apps require java installed, Flash files require flash installed etc.) Basically Windows by default, doesn't run python applications.

If they are .py scripts, I guess you need Python installed.

If they've been compiled to .exe's, I suppose they could be run on their own - I think this is what directhex is meaning

That's exactly what I *don't* want to do, hence I needed a recomendation that was more trustworthy than I'd get from a simple Google search. After all, I don't think our customers will be happy if they found out their credit cards have been defrauded because I deliberately installed spyware...
