I am looking to upgrade to Office 2007 but am wanting to go the way of volume licensing. If anyone here can recommend where to start with this it would be a big help.

Consider joining TechNet, you can trial the newest versions of MS's software for a set, per server, fee (or get the massive 258 DVD set!. When you're sure it's the right move for your company, you should be able to get a discount.
Just remember, it's a TRIAL, don't abuse it hideously by using it until the next version comes out...

What version of office?
Basic, Standard, Pro Plus (if your going the VL route), Enterprise.....
I am actually just going to look at Word 2007 as the cost would be just too much.

Straight from my May Westcoast price list:
P/N 059-06085 Word 2007 £154.26
40 licences = £6170.40
Price is exclusive of VAT.
This is the price I have for Open licence (Open Business I think!)
Works it's hopeless. You might as well use Wordpad.
If costs are that tight, then unless you've specific needs, why not just use OpenOffice and spend the money elsewhere? It's more than capable, and all-but-identical to Word 2003 until you get into the more advanced features.
I think what he's getting at is the newer versions of Works include the current version of Word, it is just a cheaper way of getting it...

Works is useless I give you that.
But it does include a full version of Word. Just everything else pas part of it is rubbish!
this_is_gav (01-05-2008)
Ah right, didn't realise that - cheers! You can tell I've just dumped CDs in systems it comes bundled with!![]()
So works has Word 2007 built in?
looking at works 9 it has Works Word Processor, Microsoft Works Plus 2008 has Word 2003 but thats £87 a pop.
it is going to cost more for 40 word COAs than it did to buy a new DC with 2003 and 40 device CALs

Thats the price of licences. Businesses need to accept that things aren't cheap and budget accordingly.

Be that as it may, £7,000 for 40 users to type the occasional letter is extortion, especially when you can legally obtain the software for less elsewhere, even more so when you can get competing software for £0. The world wouldn't fall apart if Microsoft vanished off the market overnight, the only reason they charge absurd figures like that is because businesses keep gulping and dishing out the cash anyway.
