To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.
according to the press release on the site it uses 2.6 now doesn't it
2.6 since 12.0. Haven't got round to recompiling my 2.4 kernel for latest slack. I'm not sure I need to though either. Definitely don't for the servers at work.

but with that logic we'd all be living in caves, running on kernels which have a massive quantum...... oh.
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)
2.6 core and subsystem interfaces is *very* different from 2.4, jamming in 2.6 subsystems, features, and drivers into 2.4 is nasty business, and not very well tested, therefore not safe, in otherwords, keeping 2.4 'modern' in that manner causes breakage. It's like building a dam, then realising it isn't high enough for flood waters, and adding an extra hundred metres of concrete on top of it, it simply isn't designed to do that.
I don't need any new functionality or bleeding edge features. I don't need hotplugging or hyperthreading. More than happy with the performance of my own compiled 2.4 kernel also. True performance may be better on 2.6 particularly in a server role. Heck, that increase might even be vaguely noticeable too.
