    DVD Conversion

Just got my new PMP player but I can't make head or tale of the bundled conversion software.

Can anyone recommend a good, free DVD to Xvid/DivX converter?

    Re: DVD Conversion

That would be you rown content you want to convert yeah? cos if it was commercial content you didn't have written permision from the copyright holder to copy, this thread would have to close.

But other than that, Doom9.net - The Definitive DVD Backup Resource is your friend

    Re: DVD Conversion

In theory, if I were indeed to embark on such a venture, it would be re-encoding DVDs I personally own for the exclusive purpose of playing on my brand new media player on my hols.

    Ta very much.

(though if the mods do want to close the thread anyway I understand, it is a bit of a dodgy subject)

Own the DVD, or own the rights to all the content on the DVD?

If it's just the former then re-encoding or any form of transfer would be a big no-no. If it's a home recorded DVD or you have permission from the rights holder to copy it, then cool.
