    vodafone email

We have an exchange server at work, 2007, how do I use something like Vodafone Business Email so that my co-workers can access email on the move with a smartphone type device? They have to be able to open spreadsheets, docs etc? (they will get new handsets from Vodafone).

    Cheers
    Rob

    It is dependent on device!

Two different routes depending on if it is a Windows Smartphone or a Blackberry.

Could you expand a little on both options?

Windows mobile - connects straight to Exchange - no other software other than exchange 2003 requires SP2 to get this working. Email, calendar and contacts and tasks sync over the air.... I think all you need open on your firewall is port 443 as it connects using HTTP over RPC.

Email to blackberry via Vodafone email - mail sent to an exchange user can be forwarded out to a mobileemail.vodafone.net created account for the blackberry.
This only forwards a copy. It has no connection to exchange to update read messages within outlook. Also contacts and calendar can only be updated by means of a cable at the local machine.

Email to Blackberry via BES: BES professional is free for 1 user!
This gives a user the same sort of experience they would get from them having an windows mobile device. Unsure what the cost is for and Additional CALs - I suspect it might be as much as £100 per CAL - but don't quote me on that.
