Acer punts £199 Linux laptop | Register Hardware
Ok, so this is hardware link, but its in the right place.
As i was saying ealyer the Eee can be seen as a great linux to the masses gateway. Do people really want a fully fledged OS on their portable? No, the PDA market has said this for years. People are almost happy to run a simplified OS on an ultra portable. A shell that not just takes into account, but that has really be designed for the small resolution. etc.
This device could be a real killer. I might have to buy one, 8gig SSD, £200. Who would pay another £100 to get a spindle HDD, and a license for a dead OS.
The thing is, if acer haven't hired some devs, that have customised their distro fully, so that all the hardware works straight out of the box, to its full capacity, it won't steal the place from the Eee.
D'oh they;re goes saving money!
