as stated above, what do people use and what do people think is a quick and effective defragmenter. I've been using Diskeeper but it's a couple of years old now, so wondering what the benefits are for a newer program, if any?!

I quite like UltimateDefrag - and they've made the old version free (UltimateDefrag Freeware Edition - Free software downloads and reviews - CNET Download.com) which is nice. It's a very subjective thing but I prefer something that doesn't run as a service/all the time with lots of options to play with.
I have recently been converted to jkdefrag.
Free, tons of options, quick, no services etc. Perfect really.
JkDefrag v3.34
i use o&o defrag i like the offline defrag
I use the latest edition of Diskeeper (2008, Pro) and am really happy with it. It's very effective, yet easy to use, unintrusive (background defrag) and defrags using idle resources. Highly Recommended. You can also get the free demo versions from the DK site if you want.![]()
JK Defrag, tried it recently and it's really good.
LOL, im using PerfectDisk at the mo - best defragger is such a subjective question, and there is no real answer....
I find O&O to be pretty good
I took the plunge for UltimateDefrag and on XP it was good, however on vista 64 bit its utter toss, doesn't actually defrag anything so its riddled with bugs.
JKdefrag does the job until UltimateDefrag get their 2008 version working
yeah your right VRYKYL, i guess just get one and use it! plenty of options i reckon i'm going for O&O. will let you know what i think of it later!
I use AusLogics Disk Defrag its pretty quick and like someone said before ccleaner. They work for me.
