iTunes 64 kills my DVD drive!

Ok, this is really really weird.

I decided to install the updated version of iTunes (7.6.2.9), using the 64bit version install in the hopes it'd sort my inability to burn from CD's.

Unfortunately it's removed my DVD drive (Samsung SH-S203N) from my system with Device Manager reporting a "corrupted registry". Any ideas on how I can get around this (obviously I can just use system restore to get my driveback)?

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because it's configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (code 19)"


It happens each time I install iTunes, and if I uninstall it and reboot, the problem goes away. I'm guessing it's linked to the CD burning drivers iTunes uses, but I'm puzzled as to how to get around it as the previous versions of iTunes didn't cause this issue, they just refused to allow CD's to be copied.

I had almost the same issue a few days back. The error code was different, but the problem near enough the same.

Yeh, you need to delete the Upper and Lower filters.

Talk about stupid software that it manages to write a bad registry entry...
