    Windows XP wont boot/corrupt Kaspersky?

Hey, something random has just happend..
My partner's XP Home PC just had a popup at the bottom saying about a corrupt Kaspersky 7.0 file. The when I click the balloon to check it out, the PC restarted, and now she can't get back on.

I've tried booting in Safe Mode but its the same problem. It comes onto the Windows XP boot screen and cuts out.

I'm going to try some DOS-based virus scans, but any help would be super.

    Cheers guys

If you're dead set on a reinstall then go for it however I strongly suggest once you have done this that you create a recovery CD using Kaspersky.

Install XP on the slave. Boot XP from the slave. Run a disc check on C: (Or your original windows drive)

Should replace files from the slave, and be fine on next boot. Happens to mine once every few weeks, this sorts it out fine.

Re: Windows XP wont boot/corrupt Kaspersky?

You can try another av which may help if you cannot find a solution to kaspersky
it can be found at free-av com and is called avira, I use a lot of these avs to scan customers machines and I find avira to pick up on missed ones from kaspersky etc
    hope this helps
