Thing is tho...you need....err...power and ram to be efficient in Moviemaker.
For thesize of file I was using....(ie lots of film clips, some huge) I used
Barton 2800+ (not so vital as the rest)
1 gig mem (2 x 512) now THIS is where its at in film making...I tried takinga stickout to see......more mem = lovely
Lots of HDD space....I use 3 SCSI drives...one for XP only...one for games only..and one for junk...which is where the...(wait for it) 2 gig of film was stroed and accessed
Plus a demon vid card to get good screenies with FRAPS2...when it was recording it HALVED my 9800Pro's fps

isnt the fastest software in teh world - mind you i was using a p3 700 at the time! it should run fine on any reasonable pc.. thou.. i doubt a setup like zaks is entirely nessesary
hughlunnon@yahoo.com | I have sigs turned off..
be warned...Move Maker crashes when you load it up with lots of films in one hit........I stressed the living cack out of it for my lastest...
ALWAYS keep your film and jpeg files in the SAME PLACE and dont move them...then when you drag and drop them into your project and save it as a PROJECT (ie lots of info for Movie Maker to recall later) then WHEN IT DIES and LOCKS UP LIKE A RUSTY PADLOCK and you have to reboot, IT FINDS ALL THE FILES where you last left them. HIT THE SAVE BUTTON a LOT
I'll give you an example...I first mine (after 7 hours) and finished it at a higher quality level than its been seen in now...it was TOO BIG..
the next day I decided to re-encode it from the original material at a lower bit rate...all I did was OPEN THE PROJECT and resave it at a lower rate...
had I deleted even one file or moved one movie clip.......project dead.
Also....write yourself a movie plot in basic form on a bit of paper, and then ONCE YOU'VE STARTED, try to get each bit right FROM THE BEGININNG in order...
cos if later on you change even one time frame on one piccie it effect everything from that point on....
so each frame/movie cut/merge......is out of sync from your hard work.
its great tho
