    XP Pro Installation

    Hi,

    I'm trying to install XP Pro on an 80gb hdd in a pc which has Vista on a 250gb hdd and a 500gb data hdd which are both unplugged, however when i'm installing XP, the setup begins to load files and then comes up with a dark blue screen with white writing saying that it has stopped the installation and shut down as there has been an error detected and suggests that I check my computer for virus's, which I have done many times!!!

    Can anyone give me any suggestions on how to get around this issue?!?

    Give us the error code that the BSOD has on it - there is a hundred things it could be without it

    Also the machine spec would help and any non standard stuff you're using

    Sorry guys, error code is 0x0000007B
    (0xF78D2524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

    The strange thing is I have already had XP installed on a separate drive when building the PC to overclock the cpu but now i cant install it.

    The overall spec is:
    Abit IP35 Dark Raider mb
    Core 2 Quad Q6600
    4gb (2x2gb) corsair xms ddr2 ram
    ATi radeon hd3870 graphics card
    hauppauge nova-dt dual dvb-t tv tuner

    I'm going to guess you are installing to a SATA disk?

    Has common issues.
    7B is sometimes a memory related issue, but if you have other OS's running on it stable, we can rule that out (although memtest never hurts )

    The next thing to look at is:
    Device Driver Issues
    You may receive a "Stop 0x0000007B" error message in the following scenarios:
    • A device driver that the computer boot controller needs is not configured to start during the startup process.
    • A device driver that the computer boot controller needs is corrupted.
    • Information in the Windows XP registry (information related to how the device drivers load during startup) is corrupted.
    Depending on the mode that your motherboard has the SATA/IDE controllers in, you may need to slipstream the drivers to the disk.
    Best bet is to grab nLite, grab all the drivers for the mobo from the Abit website and integrate them into the install. I recently had to do this on a XP64 build that had the exact same issue (AHCI! )
