    Fast Boot Linux

I want an OS to play my music without having to wait for xp or vista or fedora to boot up so I just wanted to know is there a linux distribution that boots in seconds or is there a way of cutting down a linux distribution to boot like this with just a media player and an mp3 codec?
Or any other ideas for me to be able to do this?

    Re: Fast Boot Linux

it's POSSIBLE, yes. consider motherboards with built-in linuxes for precisely this purpose.

but that degree of minimization takes work

and XP bots pretty quickly, all things considered

have you considered making full use of any OS's "sleep" function? it's pretty quick
