    DVD editing software

    Hi guys,

I have a mini DVD camcorder, Im looking for some software that will let me burn 2 mini dvds onto a normal DVD, and maybe be able to let me edit the menus etc I've never pld with anything like this before so any recommendations chaps?

My better half is on at me to get this done, so any help on this would be greatly appreciated

    Re: DVD editing software

I've used Pinnacle Studio for editing video but it has the ability to burn to DVD (as a DVD film file) as well as DVD menus. I've also briefly experienced DVD Architect (now owned by Sony) and that was quite good too.

You'll probably need to somehow "rip" the mini DVDs to your HDD via your mini DVD camcorder (fairly easy job as I believe both Pinnacle and DVD Architect and "rip" the media for you).

Ulead are generally pretty easy to use, plus they tend to be free with most cameras/camcorders.

Failing that, you could always fire up Windows Move Maker. If you're on an Apple, they've got a pretty good suite of software for handling this sort of stuff - iMovie for instance, as well as iDVD.

Free version of DVDLab isn't bad for a bit of authoring.

TMPGEnc DVD Author is one of the best for getting up and running quickly. Really easy to use and doesn't re-encode (which degrades quality) if it can help it.

    Re: DVD editing software

if you want something as simple as possible the windows movie maker and also windows dvd maker are excellent! done some video editing using adobe and that was a treat, so many options etc. was a bit daunting at first but got the hang of it. windows movie maker provides the basics, unless you're going to apply alot of work on the clips then it'll be more than enough to edit the film into one file.

trying to make a dvd menu that was what i had in mind (moving film clips going across the screen and fading in and out, whilst being transparent enough to still see the menu options) was a bit too hard for me to do on adobe encore.

fired up windows dvd maker as a last ditch attempt to get the thing done, film had to be handed in the next day! finished it in less than half an hour! almost to the same design i had in mind as well..... quick easy and looks good! didn't find any options to make 'extras' menu and content on the dvd though. oh well can't have everything
