Kaspersky Internet Security 2009.

Hi,
I bought this today. Installed and activated. But, it's not liking the updates. I try to update it, as it says that definitions are out of date. It begins the process, and all seems peachy, but at 28%, it just goes back to the main update page. Really annoying.

Have you restarted since you completed the install?

Are your system date / time and daylight savings settings correct?

Yes, numerous times. And, yes, they are correct.

Oh my god. It was a new install of Windows, and it had set the month too far ahead! So, it was activated on the 31st of August 2008 [My date settings], when its actually 31st of July.

Fan-fudging tastic. .

Anyway I can change this ? Its a 1 computer key, but will it be alright if I unstall the current one and re-install on the same computer ? Is it still going to be blacklisted.

I did this the first time i installed it

Just uninstall it, correct the date, reinstall it

I tried that, but it wont let me. >.<"
It says its the wrong activation date. I'll just buy another one. It was fairly cheap anyway.

You don't have to honestly. I got it working some how. I do remember emailing kaspersky but they just told me to do that and it worked.

Maybe install it to a different directory than default?

That's exactly what I did . It still say inactive activation date.

Took me a couple of goes too. Maybe I had to wait until the next day.. try it after midnight?

If it doesn't work give the support a try, they were pretty quick with me

Just another question.

If I need to reinstall windows, and I activate using the same key again, will it blacklist the key or am I allowed to install it as many times as I want on that single computer ?

You can actually use it as many times as you like , regardless of which PC it is installed on...AS LONG AS it only installed on ONE machine at a time.

I had this dilemna and phoned Kaspersky. That was the answer i was given

If it is retail yes if it is OEM no. You install it on one machine and it is then bound to that machine by your OEM agreement. Major upgrades, mainly the motherboard or changing the PC is not allowed. They will allow you to replace a motherboard, preferably for the same one but a like for like spec will normally do, but not upgrade.

That is how I understand it anyway. I've been signed up for msdn subscriptions through various means for the greater part of my system building life so I've never had to use OEM's other than work machines which never get upgraded anyway.
