If you've got 4gb anyway then 32bit Vista is a cul de sac. Go 64, people are surprised by how little hassle is involved. 64 is faster too.

Get a 64bit disc and install with that using the serial from your 32bit version. The serials are interchangeable between 32 and 64bit.

So could I get any 64 bit disc? like one borrowed from a friend.

I should of mentioned the copy I got from Microsoft is a "trial edition"

The guy from Microsoft said "The copy only lasts for 365 days" then basically gave everyone a HUGE hint that it is still usable after the 365 days, to be honest, if I like Vista and still have it after a year then I will buy a proper copy, but until then am not sure what to do.

    Re: Vista....

All Vista discs I have seen can install Home Basic, Premium, Business or Ultimate (always determined by the serial you enter), so any 64bit disc should get you going. You serial also decides whether its upgrade, OEM or retail.....I presume the "365 day trial" is determined by the serial here as well.

    Re: Vista....

Vista has come a long way since SP1 and I feel its a lot faster than it was. Can't you dual boot for a bit and see how you get on with it?
