    Tools Software

    Hello,
Can anyone please advise me as to what Tools are worth purchasing from various sites.
Are any of the following worth buying, also does anyone use these applications, or can forward any personal recommendations.

Diskeeper 8, Registry Cleaner, Ad-Aware6, PcPitstop Computer Repair,
    System Repair.

I realise that some of these may be duplicates of the same, or similar program.

My online protection at this moment in time consists of, free Zonelabs with free updates, and Grisoft AVG. again with free updates.

Any help would be appreciated, Thank You.
    Harry.

and believe me, I should know I have enough.

i use ad-aware which i think is good - but you can use it for free, so i see no need to buy it.

i think the only tools i would consider buying are Norton Ghost - which we use at work, and Partition Magic, which we also use at work - both are very useful in my line of work.

most programs however, you can just use a free trial and then if you find you really need it and want to use it, then you could buy it.

i don't bother with registry cleaner (w2k pro seems to be fine for years). and a re-install of windows 98 / xp should fix any registry problems anyway so no extra expense is needed.

scandisk / defrag built in are good enough.

pc-pitstop / system repair? is anything broken? if not don't fix it - or you could just use free tools and tips to speed up your computers responsive-ness etc.

prefer search and destroy over ad-adware - just a personal thing.
