At home I only use Windows Defender however (Because I'm weird) we do have an AD domain which I use to secure the families desktops and laptops to make sure they have the firewall enabled, no local admin access and that they receive Windows Defender definition updates. However having said that on all systems I have ad-block in place and everyone is fairly educated and savvy over what they should and shouldn't download. In the past I have used Sophos home (Free up to 10 clients I think) which has a nice web GUI to manage clients. We've also used Avast and AVG in the past but since the past few years I think they are pretty bloated now compared to the original releases.
At work we use ESET Endpoint which is great and again pretty light weight and what I would recommend if you are wanting to pay for AV. NOD32 is a great home offering
Thanks for the useful thread! I was a Mac user for the last 14 years, coming back to windows I first tried AVG as I remembered it from back in the day, but it just seems to have thousands of popups. Reading articles online I was leaning toward just using windows defender, but now I'll look into Malwarebytes to partner with it.
For the majority - windows defender is plenty nowadays. It's really improved from it's early days.
Malwarebytes is useful, long-term windows defender will get as good so as to not need it either.
Windows Defender is certainly a more solid choice than it used to be. I would be wary of searching for best antivirus, a lot of articles use affiliate links and imo can skew the results. Have a look here for an independent view of current AV : https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-windows/

ESET NOD32 is the best for sure!
I used to use Malwarebytes and it protected by PC and my data very well over these years.
But now, I have stopped clicking on suspicious links so Windows Defender is more than enough for me.
i think malwarebytes is one of the best
I used Comodo for years, it has a nice interface and wasn't too resource hungry even on low end systems.
nowadays like others have said windows defender is probably all you need
On the business side of things i've used both Kaspersky and ESET. As a home product i've installed both. I see Eset as the best of the two as a home product.
I just use the default Windows. Keep well up to date and don't do anything silly enough to get infected (Or at least i hope )
Windows Defender is a great option now. I wouldn't pay for an antivirus personally. If you want something a bit more advanced than Defender, Kaspersky's free antivirus is pretty decent. But I found the popups from it annoying.
