Power dvd crashes when opened....

Any ideas? my power dvd 7 ultra doesnt seem to work any more, it will crash each time i load it and will come up with the same error message as power dvd 8 has just now, it worked fine before i reformated.

Tried disabling Data Execution Prevention for PowerDVD.exe?

Right-click My Computer, click Properties.
Click Advanced tab.
In the Performance section, click the Settings button.
Click Data Execution Prevention tab.

If "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select" is checked, click Add and browse to select PowerDVD.exe from wherever it's installed.

Though I thought XP defaulted to only enable DEP for Windows processes, so it might be a red herring.

thanks for the idea paul but sadly its still crashing . ANy chance you have another solution? and yes after reading the other option is just for windows processes.

Seems like the cldshowx.dll is culprit, THIS might help.

D'oh, it was just a shot in the dark - I read about potential DEP issues with PowerDVD 7.0 when I was researching my HTPC which is the only reason I thought to check it.

The error code 0xc0000005 is just an "access violation" (in virtual memory addressed) - only Cyberlink could offer any reason as to why the app fell over.
If the error result comes from an I/O (disk or registry) then Process Monitor might throw some light on it.

Well i was going to unistall and check registry etc but it fails unistalling now >.<. The annoying thing is, it worked fine till i reformated my pc due to some really bad issues, my ide 80gb hard drive is non responsive so i cant use that for power dvd. I did look at that process monitor but im too much of a software noob to understand fully, i took some screenshots of some of the processes

I did search for that dll file but i couldnt find a 7.0 version only the v5 which isnt right, i did see it in the installed folder anyways.
