    Just joined the Hexus team...

    I've joined the team!

The team ranking has now jumped to ~1250 with ~71,000 total results

    http://orion.setiatwork.com/cgi-bin/...=www.HEXUS.net

Can we recruit in the other areas and aim to get into the top 1000??

heh it was a bit of a shock to see someone with such a high WU count! how many computers have you got control of! you've got like 12x more WU than me, nice work

the problem i see with the hexus seti@home-ness is the fact that out of 20 users, 9 of them are 'inactive'.. which is pretty useless

Well it really helps that I've been running SETI for about 4.5 years now!

Plus, a while back now, I used to run it on several 4- and 8- CPU Sun servers. Lots of CPUs but they were sloooow - 20hrs per wu! Now most of my crunching is done on a few PCs at home:

    • Athlon 1800+ Palomino
    • P4B 3.06@3.33Ghz 1Gb PC1066 RDRAM
    • P4C 2.6@3.2Ghz 512Mb PC4000
    • P4C 2.8@3.45Ghz 512Mb PC4000

Plus a lowly dual 900Mhz PIII in the office (about 6 wupd).

I've followed you to seti-stats.de - shame it's all in German with no English link but worked it out anyway :

ROFL! I go to Richmond college in the evenings (although it's actually in Twickenham!). I thought I was the only person around this area who frequented Hexus!

Me lives in Ashford. Used to work in the George in Twickenham. Know it? It's a poo hole now!

Jeez, didn't realize there was a big college opposite the Twickenham ground... ( Hate to think how many times I've driven right past it! Might come in handy, once all the programming jobs have gone abroad... The big question nowadays is whether to cross train as a brickie or a plumber...

Never really hang out in Twickenham town centre... plenty of pubs in Richmond keep me busy enough!

We used to have a MUCH bigger team, but an old member of this forum went on a rampage of hating everyone, and closed the team. We lost literally 10's of thousands of WU's (and thats being conservative )
