    Customization issue under Vista ...

Sorry, but does anyone know if the following can be set for good (and not only temporary) ?

When I browse through my folders, for example in MUSIC ... I can see NAME / ARTIST / ALBUM / # / GENRE / RATING ... by default.

But when I customize and replace RATINGS with BIT RATE and YEAR and LENGTH, it resets to default as soon as I re-open the folder.
There surely must be a way to save this customization ?

    Thanx

Oh, besides this I noticed that when I try to remove an earlier created folder (empty), it disappears for a short while and reappears again ... WTF ???
That happened several times now and changing the attributes in properties doesn't help.

Am I the master over the system ... or the slave ?

As well have I noticed that I am not always authorized to do simple tasks like moving folders.
Despite having full authorisation given as administrator and UAC switched off completely.

    WTF again ???

I think your problem may be that infact, you've switched off UAC. On my system where I'm running properly as a user and with the originial administrator account activated so things elevate properly, I get none of the symptoms you're describing.

Crazy as it sounds, having to enter a password to make changes to your computer is NOT a bad thing and after a while, you can predict where the prompts will appear, and have the whole process out of the way in a couple of seconds max.

Here is how to save "customization" of folder configurations:

Choose Organize --> Folder and Search Options --> View

Click on 'Apply to folders' and the settings stick for all Music folders.

Re: Customization issue under Vista ...

There is however a bug for this as vista sets aside 5mb to remember folder settings etc from memory. I had the same issue and found a fix for it but its long winded. If you constantly change the folder settings Vista forgets them as it can't keep a record or what is what.

Check this link and it will show you a number of ways to get the folder views working again.
