    f-secure or Kaspersky

    Hi Guys,

I'm normally a f-secure user so will be updating in the next couple of months as all 3 pc's subscriptions run out.

I have seen some good reviews about Kaspersky so wanted to know if anyone uses it and how it compairs to f-secure?

    Regards

it gets better reviews. i run the former, the wife runs the latter, i haven't noticed much in it (although f-secure seems less pc-hungry)

    Re: f-secure or Kaspersky

I used to swear by F-Secure when I was at uni a few years ago - really nice application, however, when I last tried it a year or so ago it was a pain.

I use kaspersky and have found it to work fine, and most importantly imo, consume little system resources and require few reboots.

We used to use PC Cillin at work - but that messed around so many things - changing firewall rules after an Office 2007 update, updates requiring rebooting far too frequently - and it hogged resources - so we have began a switch over to the big K.

Should you require it, Kaspersky support is supposed to be fantastic - I have used their unofficial forum a few times and got responses in just a few mins.

    Re: f-secure or Kaspersky

well f-secure uses the kaspersky engine along with f-secure's in house engines.
both have very good proactive detection.
    f-secure has deepguard.
kaspersky 2009 range have a new HIPS module.
if f-secure is working fine renew it.

    Re: f-secure or Kaspersky

I hope you find Kaspersky to your tastes. I've noticed that booting up and down can take little while longer with it installed, but thats probably my settings.

I managed to cripple my system on a couple of occasions purely by fiddling (something that I never achieved with Norton/Mcaffee), so I would recommend reading the manual beforehand if you’re a novice like me. Otherwise I'm sure you'll enjoy the added freedom/flexibility Kaspersky provides

Ah I'm used to breaking my computer it's a regular occurance lol. Anyway I cannot be as bad as fsecure 2007 where it would not update unless you downloaded the files your self.

    Re: f-secure or Kaspersky

Having used both in an enterprise environment I have to Kaspersky, but if you are currently running f-secure then stick with it. Rezidor use f-secure and they are one of the biggest hotel chains in the world.

I have used Avira Antvir premium for many months and have found it to be very good.
