Your 32bit key will work with 64bit vista IF you haven't already used it on a 32bit install.....
There is no-where to download a trial that I know of, although if you borrow a 64bit disc from someone you can install it without a key for a 30day trial.

same as what i thought.
Retail versions you can reinstall as much as you like, same goes for OEM on the same computer. I've used a key that was previously registered with the 32-bit version on a new 64-bit install, no problem.Your 32bit key will work with 64bit vista IF you haven't already used it on a 32bit install.....
Nope, no such thing as a Vista trial (anymore - there was in the RC and Beta days).

There's a downloadable Vista SP1 ISO freely and legitimately available to MSDN/Technet subscribers - it's now also available to just about everyone else from "the usual places." This is the pukka version containing exactly the same code as any other Vista SP1 disc, and so it obviously requires a valid key and activation in order to use it - don't get it confused with the myriad of pirate versions which are hacked to try and circumvent activation. If you're in any doubt, the correct md5 checksums are as follows:
Vista SP1 (32-bit) ISO: B09267740DDD1A08D80B04EC6BBC232A
Vista SP1 (64-bit) ISO: E4CE0B193D94279E4DCE1098D6B5AFEB
Although it clearly wasn't intended for general consumption, I doubt if MS will be too unhappy if you were to download it and subsequently purchase a valid key. As they themselves keep pointing out, you're paying for the right to use the OS, not the piece of plastic it comes on.
Incidentally, although strictly speaking there's no "trial" version as such for Vista, you can extend the period before activation by running the command "slmgr -rearm" - this resets the countdown to the start of another 30-day period (you can do this up to three times, giving you a total of 120 days if you do it on the last day each time).
AFAIK I'm not suggesting anything illegal here, but I'm sure someone will put me straight if I'm in error.

Wrong, sorry. You most certainly can order x64 media using an OEM COA, you just need to order it differently. You can use the replacement media form on MS' website, or call them up on the phone and ask for the OEM/system builder team.
I've done this twice now, with MS' full knowledge and consent. You can also use your serial between OEM 32 and 64 bit editions as many times as you like, provided it's on the same PC and you don't use both at the same time.
in the same vain (ish)
has anyone got an alternative MSoft contact email address... as they never respond to me when i use their usual email support and web methods... (can't stand calling people)
as i want to get hold of x64bit media (have license key... just need a dvd...)
TakTak you have PM![]()

Sounds like you were both trying to use the RETAIL replacement media page instead of the OEM replacement media page.
If you click that OEM link, you can now order replacement OEM media. MAKE SURE when it asks you what version it is "exactly as printed on the disc", you must type Vista (version) 64 bit. For example "Vista Home Premium 64 Bit". If you don't specify 64 bit you'll get sent 32 bit again, but you MUST stick to the actual version you have (eg Home Premium) - you CAN'T upgrade the version here!
I've ordered twice like this now (and it's the exact method given to me by MS themselves); it works perfectly but your disc WILL take a couple or weeks or so to arrive from Germany![]()
