Isn't that what they are supposed to do?

I mean, I've tried everything to make my PC shutdown by itself, it just sits there, whirring away breathing 27CFM of air past its aerodynamic heatsink blades, just missing each pulse of the CPU cycle each nanosecond. Occasionally it would go silent when a chill passes down the SATA 2 bus, but a mere fraction of a millisecond later one of the arms in the terabyte F1 would click and suddenly 54Meg of buffer space would be refreshed, ready for the next wave of pixel colours to greet your eyes...
