    Prescott & SETI performance

    Anyone know how good Prescott (P4E) is at SETI? With a 1Mb L2 cache it should be pretty cool (pun intended ) but not sure how the pipeline stuff affects things.

    General assumption is that it's slower clock-for-clock but how about SETI? tomshardware.com used to include SETI benchmarks when doing CPU/mobo reviews but looks like they've stopped that now which is a shame.

    Also would be nice to know how the Expensive Edition handles SETI, but that's just out of curiosity 'cos I'm NEVER going to buy one of those!

    Anyone found this kind of info, or maybe has 1st hand experience?

    I'm not sure how it'll do, as Precott will not shine until it gets up nearer 4Ghz. I reckon it won't be a top performer at the moment.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    I think I posted this in another thread somewhere but still... this is the most useful thing I've found:

    (from here: http://www.hwupgrade.it/articoli/971/11.html)

    Looks like for Seti the 1Mb cache outweighs the longer pipelines.

    The only other info I've found is a few forum posts, eg on Anandtech where someone says their P4E 2.8@3.1 is doing about 22-24 wu/d... Scorchio!
