    Vista Usage Question(s)

I think I'll use this as a rolling log of user based questions

Call me an idiot but how do I add a new RSS feed to Vista RSS Feed Sidebar Gadget?

I did it once through IE so i can select my feed but it's static and doesn't update (which is bizarre) and I have no idea how to turn it off in IE.

Besides that, my current preferred browser is FF so if I can link it through Firefox that would be awesome.

(BTW I am an RSS Feed n00b.)

I tried googling for an answer but the best I get is other people's RSS feed gadgets or talking about the development of Vista's RSS Feed gadget.

    Re: Vista Usage Question(s)

Its simpler than you might think

You don't actually add the feed to the gadget - you add them to IE7. Find the feed you want (eg the hexus news feed), open it with IE7 and then click subscribe.

You should then be able to select the feed in the RSS gadget

    Re: Vista Usage Question(s)

    Thanks

The only issue is that I don't want to use IE7 at all (far too cluttered for my liking and even FF is ending up that way). So is there a way to add an RSS feed in FF and have it selectable in the RSS Feed Sidebar Gadget?

Also, how do I delete feeds from the Sidebar Gadget. Obviously I want to view all the feeds I add BUT I do NOT want the standard MS ones that are already there.

    Re: Vista Usage Question(s)

Well you only have to use IE7 to add the feeds, after that you can go back to using whatever browser you want, theres no need to keep using IE7 if you don't want to for whatever reason.

You could even add them manually in:

    C:\Users\your_account_name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Feeds

if you wanted to, but its much much simpler to just use IE7 to do it.

You can delete feeds in the same way..just use IE7's rss manager to do it.
