    Re: Windows Update

That could explain it, cos our phone line is in need of repear (never use tiscali, we have been waiting for weeks for this). Maybe i will just have to wait for that to be done, though the internet seems fast enough.

Also when it does freese, i cannot click on the box, non of the buttons at the top work, or even get highlited, and it wont let me drag it. Stupid tiscali

    Re: Windows Update

I noticed that my XP machine has updated to SP3 and now, every time it reboots, the automatic "microsoft update" has been disabled and can't be re-enabled. I did some searching about it and I found a solution by doing Start -> Run -> and typing "regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll".

It seems that I have to do that every time the computer restarts though.

    Re: Windows Update

I had a update problem with Vista home premium , 64bit edition though.

It would not install a single update. It did not look like your posted pic but it just failed every time.

I tried everything , no fix i was informed of worked.

I basically re installed windows Vista 64 and the problem went away.

I hope your problem is more simple to solve.

    Re: Windows Update

That's very interesting. You should be able to stop the process though.

I understand that an OS install is lots of hassle. I only did it as i happened to be upgrading some hardware too so it made sense at the time for me.

Try checking out the " Windows module installer " as that's connected to updates too. If you can restart one then it should allow you to restart another.

Yes , you can also give the repair feature a try it can not hurt.

Good luck , hope you have some success.

    Kind regards
