That could explain it, cos our phone line is in need of repear (never use tiscali, we have been waiting for weeks for this). Maybe i will just have to wait for that to be done, though the internet seems fast enough.
Also when it does freese, i cannot click on the box, non of the buttons at the top work, or even get highlited, and it wont let me drag it.Stupid tiscali
Looked on the other computer (also vista homepremium), and it is updateing fine. there must be something stopping the updates, but i dunno what
I had to close the window from Task manager as well... try to update it in the midnight see if it goes through![]()
OK, will try that
I noticed that my XP machine has updated to SP3 and now, every time it reboots, the automatic "microsoft update" has been disabled and can't be re-enabled. I did some searching about it and I found a solution by doing Start -> Run -> and typing "regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll".
It seems that I have to do that every time the computer restarts though.
I had a update problem with Vista home premium , 64bit edition though.
It would not install a single update. It did not look like your posted pic but it just failed every time.
I tried everything , no fix i was informed of worked.
I basically re installed windows Vista 64 and the problem went away.
I hope your problem is more simple to solve.

Cant reinstall windows. Too much effot. Would have to install Xp, update to vista, then put all the programs on it. Do you reackon that getting it to try repear would do?????
Ok, just an update. I thought that i would try starting and stopping the windows update service.....this happened

That's very interesting. You should be able to stop the process though.
I understand that an OS install is lots of hassle. I only did it as i happened to be upgrading some hardware too so it made sense at the time for me.
Try checking out the " Windows module installer " as that's connected to updates too. If you can restart one then it should allow you to restart another.
Yes , you can also give the repair feature a try it can not hurt.
Good luck , hope you have some success.
Kind regards

Windows module installer was stopped. Have started it, but no joy. Looks like i will have to repear windows when i get round to it.
Thanks anyway
Yay, i dunno why, but the wireless just fell over, so i unplugged the usb stick, and when i did that the updates instantly popped up in the taksbar, and are now working
random though
Thanksto all you whom helped
