Had to re-install - now only using one core?

Using the mpich client - had to reinstall it because it kept having "serious errors" allegedly... now instead of the "FahCore_a1" process running in 4 instances like it used to, I'm now only getting one instance of "FahCore_78" running, with one core completely idle... is this something I've done wrong when I set it up, and can I rectify it without wiping it clean and starting again?
