    FREE Data recovery utilities

I have a 2 GB FAT32 USB stick which got pulled from its socket and now can't be read.

I have tried TestDisk and PhotoRec which manage to recover some files albeit without the associated file names and I've tried Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File Recovery but that only saw a fraction of what the open source application saw but did show folenames.

I need something free that will do it all.
    Any format.
    keep the name etc etc

    Any ideas?

Have a look at some of the programs from runtime software

    www.runtime.org

Not free, but you get a trial period.

EnCase has a trial version available which should get everything back. I think its used a lot in data forensics by law enforcement in America, so must be good!

    Re: FREE Data recovery utilities

EnCase is a forensic investigation tool - not a specific data recovery tool. Yoiu would be better off with something like Winhex or the tools I mentioned earlier, but you do need the underlying knowledge of disk and data structures to use them effectively. Of the two (Winhex and the runtime product), Winhex is probably the more powerful. However Runtimes products are probably the easier to use - and do come in fully featured trial versions - unlike winhex which limits certain (important) data recovery facilities.

There are other tools which claim to do automatic data recovery - Google will be your friend.

I do not know any free recovery software.Few weeks ago I have lost my word important file due to corruption.I have used Stellar Phoenix file recovery software to recover my file. You can try it may be it will help you out.The GUI interface makes it very easy to use and its demo version is free through which you can check its recovery capability.
