Question any suggestions for a cheap ecommerce package / creating a shop online?

posted this in tech forum but no responses so trying here:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

my wife wants to sell things online (ceramics, since you ask) but wants to avoid the ebay route. needs to have a database-driven shop thing.

any suggestions? She has a simple flash site, so would just be creating a link within that site to the shop.

found this but no knowledge of the company: http://www.usercart.com/index.html
Product would suit down to the ground, but no physical address listed, so am quite wary of it.

    thanks

I looked into doing this for a mate some time ago and kept coming back to Google Checkout.

I haven't had time to knock the site up fully but he's running a slim version with GC buttons and loves it.

interesting idea, thanks for that. doesn't have the database built in, though, which is necessary in my case

have had a look at www.1and1.co.uk and www.123-reg.co.uk for their systems, but not decided yet.

Sorry, totally missed the part where you mentioned database

I tend to support OpenSource where I can and one package recommended to me was http://www.oscommerce.com/

Does it require a database? What kind of scale are we talking about here?

I assume that you would eventually choose the simple root of paypal or google's checkout systems. Be aware that users can easily modify the posted values.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

My missus has just gone through all this, but she wanted something that works well with credit cards. She's gone for the EKM Powershop, and No Chex as her credit card handler. It's working well so far.
