    Shrink Partition Size

Hi, is there anyway to shrink the size of a partition without destroying the Windows and my files.

I have tried the shrink option in disk management but it only gives me 200mb, lol.

    Re: Shrink Partition Size

Hi, have you tried partition magic, I think you can do it using that.

    http://www.symantecstore.com/dr/sat5...DE=&CACHE_ID=0

It does say "Create and modify partitions up to 300GB* " so I guess you can.

Maybe try the trial or something ?

    Re: Shrink Partition Size

any RECENT linux install cd should do the job. i say recent, as older ones will stop vista from booting, by mis-labeling the ntfs partition type

    Re: Shrink Partition Size

GParted will resize NTFS file systems and then the partition. However if the filesystem is already occupying most of the partition, there isdn't much scope for shrinking it.

All partition/filesystem operations carry some risk, so back up the disk before you try anything.
