    Which card for Ubuntu??

    I am thinking of installing Ubuntu 8.04 or 8.10 on my backup pc. I have a choice of either using a Nvida 8500GT or x1900gt. I would rather use the x1900gt but are these still driver issues with older ATI cards??

    I believe that nVidia support under linux is still better then ATIs but I recently installed Ubuntu (8.04 Hardy) and the drivers from the AMD site and everything has worked like a charm, which surprised me as I was not expecting support for my card so soon.

    Although I must confess to not having anything to really draw any parallels in performance between the Ubuntu and Windows drivers though. Still, everything seems to function properly at least.
