    Help with memtest

I've booted up memtest to check my ram, mut it doesnt seem to get very far. The only thing moving is on test 2 the "Errors per Memory Slot : 0:" This number just keeps getting higher and higher!

Which might indicate a problem with the memory on slot 0...? Have you tried removing that memory stick and re-running the test?

    Re: Help with memtest

I'm fairly sure that due to variations in motherboards and chipsets it is impossible to locate reliably the physical chip or memory slot that is failing using just software. If you have more than one SIMM/DIMM, you can isolate the faulty one by elimination. Run the machine with one SIMM/DIMM installed at a time. When errors are found the installed board is at fault. You should also try swapping the SIMM/DIMM between slots, as far as your motherboard allows.

The manual that it included in the MemTest zip file has a section on what to do 'If you find an error' which covers this in more detail.

If you using MemTest Pro you can generate a log which you could post - MemTest Pro provides a bit more functionality than the free version.
