    Home network - Remote Desktop

I have a vista PC and a vista laptop - I would like to be able to access the PC from the laptop.

Both are running vista home premium.

This would only be internal access - not external to my home network.

I have used logmein.com but I reckon there will be a better way on my home network...

It needs to be something which can be done with no prompting from the host pc - i.e. when I used remote assistance at work on PC I had to click stuff on it before I could access and control it.

So, is there an easy way to do this in vista, or do I need to start tinkering with stuff like VNC?

That's still remote assistance though does that not mean I have to go to the desktop pc and accept the on screen prompts before accessing it?

Re: Home network - Remote Desktop

no its not remote assistance, im support for around 40 servers that all use that for remote access, and as its rack servers theres no one sat there to click ok

you want the remote desktop option, not remote assistance

yer - see vista HOME PREMIUM (as I should have said in the original post, my bad!) does not have that - just remote assistance - as remote desktop is what I have used at work on vista business machines and sbs machines :/

It seems there is a 'hack' to allow home premium to act as a host:

not sure if its entirely safe though... but it looks it

Just gave this a go - works a treat - and far more satisfactory than using logmein.com
