Post Windows Vista OEM installed twice

I'm pondering getting an OEM copy of Vista to install twice - once on my Mac under BootCamp, and another under VMware.

However, 1) are they going to both activate without having to call MS, and 2) is it against the EULA to do that?

I'm just curious before I fork out £75 for a licence for Home Premium.

Re: Windows Vista OEM installed twice

Two installs equals two licenses required (yes, even on the same computer)- so don't be surprised if you can't activate the second one.
If you can't keep up, stick with reality...

Has that changed for Vista then? It's not the case for XP OEM which is only tied to one machine.

vmware's an emulated machine though - emulated bios, emulated disk controller, etc

it's distinct from the "real" machine it runs on

Theft involves depriving someone of the item stolen.

Turns out I was wrong anyway - only one copy of OEM XP is only meant to be installed too, even if the MS activation servers don't mind (they can't detect the difference between installing a second copy on the same hardware (VM aside) and installing a first copy).

/me nukes second installation of XP.

Apologies for dragging this off-topic, but how is someone in breach of their license with Microsoft somehow stealing from you?

Because my MSDN subscriptions go up every year and no doubt so of that covers the scroungers that pay nothing.

Not really stealing from you though is it? Are they removing your access to something you've already paid for? The price of stuff goes up, that's inflation for you...

imho m$ have enough money to not have to raise the msdn price because people steal windows... more like the price of windows off the shelf goes up, and msdn price goes up with inflation.

It's bugger all to do with piracy - it's just that they charge what the market can bear.
