    Re: windows

    Hi Tan

Chances are you're just being slowed down by the updates you've made, I find IE7 noticeably slower than IE6 (consider Firefox, should be quicker!). I'd start by removing any browser toolbars you've got, google and yahoo ones often cause slow downs. Next step would be to run msconfig and select the Startup tab. Untick anything you don't want to run, such as adobe quick launch, apple updater etc., search in google for anything you're not sure of, but only remove if you're certain you don't need it.

With regards virus checking, try Spybot Search & Destroy and AdAware 2008, both freebies and will pick up more than your average antivirus.

Speaking of antivirus, if you're playing games and don't have anything too confidential on your PC, disable auto-protect if you think it's affecting what you're doing.

Last thing I'd say is run a defrag, installing and, more especially, uninstalling programs / updates can fragment your hard drive.

Hope some of those suggestions help!

Clean your temporary files/cookies/i.e cache. CCleaner is a fantastic application that will automate the whole process as you empty your recycle bin. Do this often. Also try firefox, as the previous poster suggested.

i never noticed any speed difference when going from sp2-3, however internet explorer 7 is rather slow, especially when opening new tabs. as suggested above, use firefox for more speed
