Group Policy-make proxy settings per machine (rather than per user)

A bit of advice on trying this.

    DONT.
It's like the first time someone thought to put an engine in a 4 wheeled vehicle. Then they decided not to bother with the gearbox
A whole day, several adm templates written by me and lots of Group policy troubleshooting and I've given up. I can roll out the right registry changes, Group policy modelling and Group Policy results both indicate things should work. Before any user logs on, the registry settings are correct. When a user (even a restricted user) logs on, registry settings in the HKLM hive are changed!
When the proxy settings are per machine, they are stored in
    Code:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]
I'll say again: When a restricted user logs in, the key above has its contents changed!

When they are per user, they are stored in
    Code:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]
I am now going to go against all that is holy and apply group policy to the site.

What is it exactly you are trying to do here and why?

Re: Group Policy-make proxy settings per machine (rather than per user)

I was trying to get all of the machines in a site to have the same proxy settings but I didn't want the proxy settings to follow the users when they log into machines in another site.
Before anyone thinks it, no, loopback processing will not achieve what I want. It will interfere with a load of other policies.
For now, I have just applied the proxy settings policy to the site and have set everything up to make sure all computers fire up around 2am tomorrow morning , refresh their group policy, reboot and shutdown.

If anyone can't access facebook before I get in tomorrow morning, they can go fist themselves.
