Buying a windows vista license

Is there any way to obtain a Windows Vista home premium license (with key) on it's own, without purchasing either the OEM or full retail pack? I already have the actual software installed on this system, but can't activate it obviously.

I'm guessing purchasing the license alone will save me the hassle of waiting for delivery, and will be cheaper?

iirc you can only buy OS licenses in volume, if the license only option came down to consumer level I'd expect it'll only be few pounds cheaper without the disk anyway. The exception are upgrade licences which can be purchased online and can be used for 'fresh' installs or activations if need be, this however requires an install disk.

You get 30 days 'trial' on a new install of vista, so plenty of time to get the key delivered?

I think Hexxeh might be thinking of this - if you have a valid .ac.uk address you can buy Vista Ultimate as an online purchase, you should get the license pretty much immediately. Plus it's cheap.

I have home prem installed, I guess I should have installed ultimate. Ah well!

I just clicked the "Buy a new product key online" option under "My Computer" properties, and it linked me to an offer to purchase the licence (with the DVD's to be sent in the mail) for £70, through the windows genuine software program. Is this the same as a full version (not upgrade)?
