Firefox abnormality quick help please :)

    Hi,

When Firefox v2 came out I was keen to download one of the newest versions, so got it from one of these upload sources (megaupload).

Now since upgrading firefox, on the about page it still states "megaupload" which is concerning me slightly, and I don't get the normal interface, i.e. the larger back button etc.

Please could you help me sort it out please.

This is what the about page says (see images below)

The version states it is V3.05, however Natwest (nwolb) will not recognise that it is a supported browser, which it should, so I am a little worried there are other scripts running. I have uninstalled firefox to no avail. Ideally I want to keep my user info in the application data (passwords, bookmarks etc)

    Pictures to be added shortly.

    Thank you

Why not just delete that version of Firefox and its profiles and then start again with a firefox download from the official source if you are worried?

Just backup your bookmarks which firefox allows then I assume it's not that much of a hardship to go through and setup the passwords again?

It could just be the fact that someone has tweaked firefox to bits to make it faster but I certainly wouldn't trust it as you have no idea what has been done to it in the first place.

You can get plugins to export bookmarks, passwords etc... then just download v3 from the mozilla site

    It's 4.98*

I'll try it again, I've got the latest version from the genuine source (getfirefox), the passwords are a bit of an inconvenience to re-input as I have to admit not all of the I can remember... but I'll try removing the profiles and starting over again.

    Cheers

Re: Firefox abnormality quick help please :)

I should have really just tried removing the user profile first. I just cut the whole profile folder to back it up and its back to normal:

    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5
I can also report back that natwest online banking is working properly, no problems

Thanks for your quick responses, and apologies for my laziness.

Re: Firefox abnormality quick help please :)

I just wish my firefox was that speedy these days, it seems to be getting slower by the day and I clear everything out as much as possible. I have started using the google Chrome browser for general browsing etc and then going back to into firefox if I am doing online banking etc.
