Question any advice why screen res would freq reset on reboot?

FX card can handle high res (eg 2000+)

    monitor is 22" Lacie CRT

often (and occurring more frequently) find boot-up in morning resets res from 1600x1200 to 1280x1080

    any clues?
One can never stop saying Thank You

Have you any applications or games that alter the resolution while using PC ?
Sometimes the system is not happy trying to display too high a resolution either, also drivers and display applications / settings not applied properly. CRT refresh rate ?

So you set the resolution and its fine, shut down then when you reboot its back to the old resolution?

    try this...

Go to "Settings" and click on the "Advanced" button. There is a setting to tell Windows what to do after the display settings are changed; change it from "Restart the computer..." to "Ask me before...". Then click OK to go back to the display panel, OK again to close the window and save the change. After making that change and saving it, then re-opened display settings, and change the resolution to whatever you want, clicked OK, Windows will ask if you want to make the change, click yes.
