    Question GFI Faxmaker

Does anyone currently use or have experience with GFI Faxmaker?

I have a client who has a fax machine for each department at a cost of £1000 per machine, now these are high volume Fax machines and most of them have lasted 9+ years, they bought a cheaper one (£250) but it only lasted a year.

An alternative would be to have one fax line and connect it to the server, have all incoming faxes then routed to a public folder in Exchange and they all send out using one fax number.

They have 28 users, but as the licensing jumps from 25 to 50 users, they will stick with 25 to start with.

Is it as easy as it reads to setup?

I am in the process of downloading their 30 day trial, but on a 512kbps connection, it will take a while

Zetafax for the same amount of users is nearly £3000, but GFI is £720 per year

    Thanks

It's a couple of years since I last used it, but I've seen it setup to route messages to/from Exchange mailboxes and it worked pretty sweet, so long as the fax card didn't fall over (which sadly it did with alarming regularity). Those fax cards ain't cheap though...

I can't stress how important it is to get a proper fax card ( brooktrout )
I set up a Faxmaker solution for a busy call centre and had no end of issues with it untill we persuaded the client to buy brooktrout board.

Ah, that's the one we ended up putting in (in fact 2 for redundancy) to fix the falling over of the cheaper card...

You really must get a decent fax card. I have seen so many people buy cheaip ebay style fax cards and expect them to work!
