Can not install SP4 (W2K) or open Task Manager

Okay, just reformatetd my HDD, got a new graphics card, so wanted a nice clean install, and was annoyed with XP, so i've gone back to windows 2000 (SP1).

Problem is, that if i press CTRL+ALT+DEL, the task manager will popup for about a second, and then vanish again. This also happens when I try loading the service pack 4 install program.

    PC Spec:
    Abit NF7 v2.00 Motherboard
    AMB Barton 2500+ (Stock)
    Sapphire 9800 Pro
    1024MB 3200 Corsair RAM

Any clues on to how i can fix this?

If you don't come up with any virus' (Which as you've jsut done a format will probably be true) then perhaps you need to set certain user access setting that are built into windows 2000. My mate had a simular problem when he installed windows 2003, for some reason the version he had set things up as a workstation on a server where access tyo things liek task manager etc was restricted.

It was a virus, must have tagged along on my backed up files (can't remember what it was), got things updated, will do another scan in a bit to make sure it's definately clean
