Re: New MSN/Live Messenger with Windows XP64

Windows Live products require the following:

    * Operating system: Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (32-bit edition only), Windows Vista (32-bit or 64-bit editions), Windows 7 Beta (32-bit or 64-bit editions), or Windows Server 2008.

    there is probably a workaround.

Isnt it nice that Microsoft have created themselves a evil child, that they try to hide away from the public view.

Like stuffing that deformed child under the stairs, to stop the neighbours talking

The usual issue with XP64 support is XP64 is not based on XP (Windows 5.1), it's based on Server 2k3 (Windows 5.2)

As an aside I've used pidgin and wasn't too fond of it as a replacement. Though I hate the new windows live messenger...

Well, I wish I can use Live programs on Windows 2003. Windows Sync (Foldershare) was so useful until they stopped allowing people to use it on 2003.

    P.S. Windows XP x64 = Windows 2003 x64 without the server functions.

Suggesting pidgin isnt helping, nor is saying you dont like the client.

You're right. We should have all ignored the thread (because there is no solution we can find) and let you bump it endlessly or find help somewhere else.

But instead you get annoyed because we haven't spoonfed you a solution to the problem.

Here's my helpful advice, there is no solution. Stick with an earlier version or go to Windows XP 32 bit or get Vista x64. Windows XP x64 isn't as supported as the other OS's and wasn't supported as the others when it first came out (no drivers for hardware, software problems).

    Happy?

Im not expecting to be spoonfed, i was hoping that one of the many users might have figured it out and could offer advice.

But suggesting the above, would be similar to telling someone having problems with an intel CPU, to install AMD instead (in the instance of pidgin).

But then no one would have any advice to give. I suppose wait for Microsofts reply and if they can't help you then really no one can
