    Question osx and xp sp3 file sharing

    ermmmm i got some files on my old lappy that's running xp sp3 that i want to send wirelessly to my new macbook i got today... there's about 17gb to copy over so whats the fastest way please...

    fastest? set the folder to shared on windows, the connect to it on the mac

    Does it have to be wireless? Depending on how good your wireless network is, you might find it quicker using cables (assuming that's physically possible) or easier to use an external hard drive and copy files manually.

    i know how to do it in xp but how the hell do i do it on leopards side as since 10.5.6 theres no "windows sharing" click box on the left only personal etc... full guided link please...

    Apple + K

    smb://windowsIPAddress

    It will find the shares.

    doesn't seem to find jack.any other ideas/guides?

    Yep, Leopard 10.5.6 changed file sharing. This link might help get sharing set up in future (so long as you don't mind disabling mac to mac sharing!):

    This is the kind of thing Microsoft would call a "feature" but Apple deny all knowledge of, I'm not sure which one I prefer.

    In the Mac go to system settings or whatever they call it. Then network there is a sharing option in there and you add the folder you wish to share. Make sure the rights are all correct to allow access.

    Then in the windows box, start -> run and type \\MacIPAddress and it might just find the shares on the Mac.
